The Mind Spark Curriculum

Chrysaellect offers four educationally sound and high-quality preschool programmes - The Mind Spark curriculum for schools, aspiring to create learning environments that are engaging, meaningful and fun.

The Mind Spark curriculum (for children aged 0 to 6 years) focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside.

Through engaging with this curriculum, children acquire and learn to apply a set of skills which are valuable not only for the teaching and learning that goes on within the classroom but also in life outside the school. We encourage attitudes that contribute to the wellbeing of the individual and of the group. Children are encouraged to develop personal attitudes towards people, the environment and learning. The programme encourages the development of the following attitudes and skill sets in children:

The Cross Disciplinary Themes

The Mind Spark Difference

Four cross disciplinary themes: The most unique and critical feature of The Mind Spark curriculum is the four cross disciplinary over arching themes. These over arching themes are about areas of discussion that have meaning for, and are relevant to children. The curriculum framework allows children to move beyond the confines of learning within predetermined subject areas and allows for a more holistic understanding of concepts. Following are the cross disciplinary themes:

  • Who I am
  • My World
  • Living and non living
  • Beyond my world

Theoretically and Developmentally Sound Practice:The Mind Spark Curriculum is based on theoretically sound practice and extensive research in areas of child development, pedagogy, learning theories and brain research. The curriculum is planned in a manner that is appropriate to children’s developmental abilities and supports their cognitive, physical, social and emotional development.

Assessment: is an integral part of the curriculum as it enhances student learning and provides opportunities for children as well as teachers to reflect on what they know, understand and can do. The comprehensive skill assessment formats support and guide teachers in conducting observations and act as a compass to improve teaching and learning in the classroom.

Structure: The curriculum is designed for 180 days and includes daily plans and monthly timetables which give you a bird’s eye view of what will happen in class during the month. The daily plans include the following…

  • Objectives for each activity
  • Resources required for every activity
  • The procedure in which the activity is to be conducted
  • What the teacher can say while conducting the activity

The curriculum also includes:

  • A Nursery Rhyme Manuel
  • Worksheets
  • Sample art cut outs
  • Music required for the plans
  • A toy catalogue will be included that introduces you to the equipment.
  • Handout for parents
  • 10 festival plans
